Anno 2024, work-life balance is and will remain crucial. Yet figures tell us that more than 50% of employees struggle with work-life balance. And an overwhelming 65%, (I repeat, 65%!), of workers experience symptoms of burnout, mainly due to work-life imbalance. It is time to change this.

Simon Garrity, our senior Workforce management expert, shines his light on the responsibility of employers. Find out in our video!

Importance of Time Management

Perhaps you recognise this in yourself or colleagues. The days when we lived to work are far behind us. We now work to live. Working from home and flexible hours are not a luxury. They are a must. But the question is: how do we find the right work-life balance? Well, the answer lies in smart management of your most precious commodity: time!

Employees who feel in control of their time and life feel better at work. The result? Less absenteeism, less stress and greater commitment. Satisfied employees deliver better customer service. But they are also more loyal. So they are less likely to leave.

Flexible Working: The New Norm

With 80% of employees considering flexible working as essential for a healthy work-life balance, it is clear that flexible working hours and working from home are no longer a luxury, but a necessity. Oh yes, and almost 70% of Gen Z, the rising generation, consider that work-life balance a priority in their choice of an employer. More important even than salary and advancement opportunities.

Another notable trend is the shift towards working less to get more out of life. More and more companies recognise this and are seeing an increase in demand for career breaks.

This underlines the need for companies to be adaptive and give employees the tools they need to manage their time efficiently.

Technology as a Tool

As we look for ways to better manage our time, technology provides tools that can support us. One example is a smart time tracking system. A sophisticated tool like Protime's does so much more than simply record attendance. It gives employees the freedom to schedule their work themselves. And so they can quickly switch when the workload gets too high. This not only improves productivity and flexibility, but also the well-being of employees.
